Edit a short draft in three steps
Start with NASA report: café as a heading and a short paragraph beneath it. Each tool answers a different question; moving between them does not automatically transfer your text.
What the numbers and edits mean
The counter uses whitespace for word boundaries and UTF-16 units for characters. Its 200-word-per-minute estimate is for rough silent reading, not spoken timing or comprehension. Case conversion applies character rules, not editorial judgment. The difference checker compares plain text by line and ignores fonts and page layout. Keep the original and review the final text where it will be published.
For data transformations rather than prose editing, the developer workflow connects CSV, JSON, encoding, and exact-input comparisons.
Check Unicode and moved lines
你好世界 has four UTF-16 units but is one whitespace-delimited token here. This is not a linguistic word count. Moving gamma from the end of alpha / beta / gamma to the start appears as a removal and addition; compare the complete texts before accepting an edit.
Repeat the Unicode counting experiment
The recorded word-counter experiment compares ordinary text, combining accents, emoji, Chinese text, and invisible separators. Download its fixtures and compare the actual UTF-16 character count with your destination's rule; a visible symbol is not always one character unit.
